One Meralco Foundation Joins Hands With DepEd To Power Up Schools For Brigada Eskwela 2025

One Meralco Foundation (OMF), the corporate social responsibility arm of the Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco), stood in full support of the Department of Education (DepEd) as it helped roll out this year’s Brigada Eskwela from June 9 to 13, 2025. This annual initiative fosters the Filipino spirit of bayanihan—where communities and institutions come together to prepare public schools for the new academic year and ensure a safe and welcoming learning environment for students.
At the kick-off event held at Angono Elementary School in Rizal, OMF was on the ground alongside Meralco employee-volunteers from the Angono Business Center and Rizal Sector. Through the Foundation’s “Safe ang School Ko” program, teams inspected electrical systems, pruned trees near power lines, and helped clear potential hazards to enhance safety across the campus. Volunteers also donated cleaning supplies to aid in the school’s general upkeep.
These efforts weren’t limited to Rizal. Similar activities took place in various communities including Pasig City, Las Piñas City, Tondo and Sampaloc in Manila, Taytay, Cainta, Tagaytay City, Indang, and General Emilio Aguinaldo in Cavite—underscoring the breadth of OMF’s commitment to education and safety.
“Taking part in Brigada Eskwela is an affirmation of our shared aspirations with DepEd,” said OMF President Jeffrey O. Tarayao. “As Meralco employees, our values of bayanihan and malasakit actively build brighter futures, ensuring every learner can learn and thrive in a well-prepared and conducive environment.”
In addition to supporting Brigada Eskwela, OMF also kicked off its Balik Eskwela campaign. This annual drive provides kindergarten learners in public schools with back-to-school kits containing essential reading and writing materials, helping ease the burden on families and setting the tone for a more confident start to the school year.
With strong partnerships and a shared vision, initiatives like these serve as reminders that creating a better future begins with empowering every Filipino child through safe, inclusive, and well-equipped learning spaces.
