In response to reports of a dog named Killua being beaten to death in Camarines Sur, the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) has expressed its outrage and determination to seek justice for the animal. PAWS has issued a statement strongly condemning the brutal killing and asserting that it will pursue legal action against the perpetrator.

According to PAWS, the individual responsible for Killua's death has claimed it was an act of self-defense. However, video evidence contradicts this claim, showing that Killua was being chased by the perpetrator and that no elements of self-defense were present. PAWS emphasizes that there are humane ways of animal control, and there was no justification for Killua to be killed in such a manner as he posed no threat to anyone.

With the cooperation of the pet owner and witnesses who have submitted affidavits, PAWS intends to file charges of violation of the Animal Welfare Act against the perpetrator. The organization urges witnesses of other animal-related crimes posted on social media to come forward and assist in seeking justice for these animals.

PAWS underscores the importance of filing criminal cases against animal offenders and calls on the public to fulfill their collective duty to protect animals by taking action. The organization warns that tagging on social media alone will not lead to punishment unless criminal complaints are filed in court.
