In a recent media interview in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. disclosed plans to address the persistent electricity supply concerns in Mindoro's Oriental and Occidental provinces. The proposed solution involves connecting the provinces to the grid through a submarine cable, marking a long-term strategy to alleviate the region's power woes.

President Marcos emphasized the urgency of the situation and outlined various energy alternatives under consideration by the government. While acknowledging solar power as the fastest solution, he highlighted the potential for a diversified energy mix including wind, hydro, and geothermal sources. The government aims not only to mitigate current challenges but also fortify energy infrastructure for sustained reliability.

Regarding the negotiation of electricity pricing with power generators, President Marcos revealed ongoing discussions led by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC). Once finalized, the government may explore options for subsidizing energy in the province, recognizing Mindoro's unique power supply circumstances.

Addressing recent power outages in Occidental Mindoro, President Marcos assured residents of sufficient electricity supply. He attributed past interruptions to technical issues rather than sabotage, affirming efforts to rectify equipment malfunctions and prevent future disruptions.
