The Philippines made a powerful first showing at SEMICON Europa 2025 in Munich, Germany, unveiling its inaugural country pavilion and highlighting the nation’s growing strengths in semiconductors, electronics manufacturing services (EMS), and integrated circuit (IC) design.
Co-organized by the DTI Export Marketing Bureau, the Board of Investments (BOI), the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), and PTIC-Berlin, the initiative marked a major step in positioning the Philippines as a reliable technology and manufacturing partner for Europe.
High Visitor Turnout and Strong Industry Engagement
The Philippine Pavilion (Hall C2 | Booth C2325) drew consistent foot traffic and sparked productive conversations throughout the week. Local industry leaders — Automated Technology (Phil.) Inc. (ATEC), Gruppo EMS, H3 Technology, Integrated Micro-Electronics, Inc. (IMI), Smartfox Data Solutions, and Xinyx Design Consultancy — reported steady interest from European semiconductor and electronics firms.
Delegates also met with prominent organizations including:
• ZVEI e.V.
• Bayern Innovativ GmbH
• Bavarian Chip Alliance
• Diehl Defense GmbH & Co. KG
• T-Mobile Austria International GmbH
These engagements reflect a rising confidence in the Philippines as a competitive partner for chip design, EMS, and advanced electronics solutions.
A Trusted Player in the Global Supply Chain
The trip underscored the Philippines' pivotal role in the global semiconductor supply chain. The country remains a major hub for electronics, contributing around 60% of total merchandise exports and generating USD 42.75 billion in 2024. The sector employs roughly 3.2 million workers and ranks the Philippines ninth worldwide in chip exports.
Its semiconductor ecosystem, known for assembly, testing, and packaging, continues to expand into higher-value capabilities such as IC design—supported by a growing pool of specialized engineers.
Full Electronics Value Chain on Display
Led by the Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines, Inc. (SEIPI), the pavilion showcased the country’s ability to serve multiple production and design needs:
• Integrated Micro-Electronics, Inc. (IMI) – A top 20 global EMS provider serving automotive, EV, industrial, and medical sectors.
• Xinyx Design Consultancy & Services, Inc. – A leader in IC layout, verification, and design services.
• Gruppo EMS (GEMS), Inc. – Specializing in PCB and full product assembly.
• Automated Technology (Phil.) Inc. (ATEC) – Providing semiconductor assembly, advanced packaging, and IC testing services.
• H3 Technology Phils., Inc. – Offering PCBA, wire harnesses, and electromechanical assemblies.
• Smartfox Data Solutions, Inc. – Delivering Silicon IP, FPGA, and embedded systems design.
Together, they represent the depth of the Philippines’ electronics ecosystem—from precision manufacturing to digital and silicon design.
Building Toward Long-Term Partnerships
As European companies seek stable, cost-efficient, and sustainable production solutions amid shifting global supply chains, the Philippines is positioning itself as a dependable partner committed to collaboration and innovation.
Organizers say the strong interest seen at SEMICON Europa 2025 is only the beginning. More engagements are expected as global manufacturers look to diversify and strengthen their supply networks.
