The Department of Tourism (DOT) announced on Wednesday (April 24) that the country has already seen a remarkable influx of over two million international visitors this month alone. Additionally, tourism receipts for the period from January 1 to March 31, 2024, have surged to approximately PHP157.62 billion, marking a notable recovery rate of 120.70 percent compared to the same period in 2019, the milestone year for Philippine tourism before the onset of global lockdowns.

According to the DOT's monitoring data as of April 24, 2024, a total of 2,010,522 international visitors have entered the country, with foreign tourists constituting 94.21 percent of the arrivals, while overseas Filipinos make up the remaining 5.79 percent. This figure reflects a 15.11 percent increase from the international arrivals recorded during the same period last year.

South Korea remains the leading source market for inbound visitor arrivals, contributing 27.19 percent of the total, followed by the United States, China, Japan, and Australia.

Notably, Canada, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Germany round out the top ten source markets.

Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco expressed optimism about the trajectory of international tourist arrivals, citing collaborative efforts and investments in tourism infrastructure. With a target of welcoming 7.7 million international visitors this year, the Philippines aims to approach its pre-pandemic record-breaking achievement of 8.26 million inbound visitor arrivals in 2019.

Frasco emphasized the importance of sustainable tourism development, aligned with the National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP) 2023-2028, to stimulate employment and economic growth while expressing gratitude to public and private sector partners for their continuous support in realizing the country's tourism goals.
