Meralco is taking another big step toward supporting sustainable growth in the Philippines—this time by partnering with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) to energize new, future-ready ecozones across the country.

Through a newly signed memorandum of understanding, the two organizations agreed to work together in developing and powering PEZA-owned greenfield ecozones, including the Pantao Ecozone in Albay and the Palawan Mega Ecozone in Puerto Princesa. These emerging zones are expected to become fresh hubs for investments, jobs, and innovation.

Meralco already supplies electricity to 244 out of 433 ecozones nationwide, from major industrial pillars like the Cavite Economic Zone to the First Philippine Industrial Park in Batangas. The new partnership aims to push this progress even further.

The signing was led by Meralco Chairman and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan, Executive Vice President and COO Ronnie L. Aperocho, Senior Vice President Arnel D. Casanova, PEZA Director General Tereso O. Panga, and PEZA Deputy Director General for Policy and Planning Anidelle Joy M. Alguso.

Aperocho highlighted the significance of the collaboration, saying greenfield ecozones represent powerful engines of growth for the Philippines. “These projects, developed from the ground up, demand modern and reliable infrastructure, with power distribution systems at their core,” he said.
