PSEi Climbs As Bargain Hunters Step In

The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) ended the week on a higher note on Friday, December 26, as investors picked up select stocks despite thin holiday trading.
The benchmark index rose by 23.73 points, or 0.39 percent, to close at 6,065.64, marking a modest rebound after recent subdued sessions.
Trading activity remained light, with total market turnover at just PHP 2.7 billion, a common trend during the year-end holiday period. Still, market breadth was positive, as advancers (107) outpaced decliners (80), while 60 stocks finished unchanged.
Foreign investors, however, were net sellers for the day. Foreign buying reached PHP 1.24 billion, while foreign selling totaled PHP 1.27 billion, resulting in a net foreign selling of PHP 34.57 million.
The mixed flow of funds suggests that while local investors took advantage of selective buying opportunities, foreign participants continued to trim positions ahead of the year’s close.
Market players are expected to remain cautious in the final trading days of 2025, with low volumes likely to persist as investors await clearer economic and market cues heading into the new year.
