PSEi Ends Flat As Investors Stay Cautious Before Year-End

The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) barely moved on Tuesday, December 23, as investors remained cautious heading into the final stretch of the year.
The benchmark index closed at 6,041.91, inching up by just 0.65 point or 0.01 percent, reflecting a quiet trading session with limited conviction on either side of the market.
Trading activity was relatively thin, with total value turnover reaching only PHP 4.6 billion, suggesting many investors are staying on the sidelines ahead of the holidays. Market breadth leaned slightly negative, as decliners (107) outnumbered advancers (88), while 49 stocks ended unchanged.
Despite the subdued local sentiment, foreign investors posted a modest net buying position. Foreign buying amounted to PHP 2.30 billion, while foreign selling reached PHP 2.19 billion, resulting in a net foreign buying of PHP 107.99 million.
The muted finish indicates that investors are largely in wait-and-see mode, with many opting to preserve cash and reassess positions as the year draws to a close and ahead of fresh catalysts in early 2026.
