The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) closed slightly higher on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, gaining 32.89 points or 0.52% to finish at 6,325.64. The market showed a cautious upward movement, driven by gains in key sectors despite foreign investors continuing their net selling streak.

Total value turnover reached PHP 4.6 billion, a relatively modest volume that reflects a market still weighing both global and local signals. Market breadth leaned slightly positive, with 97 issues advancing, 83 declining, and 60 remaining unchanged.

Sector performance was mixed. Property stocks led the day’s gains, rising by 1.94% to 2,251.04, followed by Mining & Oil which climbed 1.49% to 9,893.96. The Holding Firms index also posted a solid increase of 0.76%. Meanwhile, Financials and Industrials edged lower by 0.24% and 0.02%, respectively, showing some sector-specific profit-taking.

Foreign participation remained net negative, with foreign selling amounting to PHP 2.28 billion against buying of PHP 1.95 billion, resulting in net foreign outflows of PHP 331.5 million. The continued net selling by foreign investors suggests caution remains in the external investment environment.

Overall, today’s market performance reflects measured optimism. While the headline index posted a modest gain, underlying sector movements and subdued trading value indicate that investors are staying alert to macroeconomic developments and awaiting stronger catalysts.
