Manila, January 6, 2026 — The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) jumped sharply on Tuesday, closing the day at 6,317.91 points, up 153.38 points or 2.49 percent from Monday. The strong finish reflects growing investor confidence and renewed trading activity as the market gains momentum in the first full week of the year.
Analysts say the rally is fueled by bargain hunting and optimism over economic conditions, with returning traders pushing stocks higher across multiple sectors. Foreign investors also contributed to the upward movement, showing renewed participation in the local market.
Monday’s session had already set a positive tone, with the PSEi closing at 6,164.53 points, up 29.47 points or 0.48 percent, signaling cautious optimism at the start of the week.
“The market started the week on a positive note, with investors looking for opportunities after the holiday lull,” said a market strategist. “Net foreign inflows also helped sustain the mild upward movement.”
With trading fully underway for 2026, investors will be watching closely for upcoming economic data and corporate earnings, which could influence whether the current bullish trend continues or levels off in the days ahead.
