Pulse Asia: Marcos Faces Net Distrust, Duterte Keeps Majority Trust
File
Filipinos remain divided on the country’s top leaders, according to the latest nationwide survey released by Pulse Asia Research in December 2025.

Results from the December 12–15, 2025 Ulat ng Bayan survey show that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. continues to struggle with public confidence, while Vice President Sara Duterte maintains majority approval and trust ratings.

Nearly half of adult Filipinos—48 percent—said they disapprove of President Marcos’ performance in the past three months, while only 34 percent expressed approval. Trust figures followed a similar pattern, with 47 percent saying they distrust the President, compared with 32 percent who trust him.

In contrast, Vice President Duterte received a more favorable assessment. Fifty-six percent of respondents approved of her performance, while 54 percent said they trust her. Only 24 percent expressed distrust.

Pulse Asia noted that public sentiment toward both officials has remained largely unchanged since September 2025, despite major national developments during the period, including corruption allegations, flood control controversies, economic pressures, and large-scale public protests.

The survey, conducted through face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adults nationwide, has a ±2.8 percent margin of error and covers Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Beyond leadership ratings, the poll also found that controlling inflation remains the most urgent concern for Filipinos, followed by fighting corruption and increasing workers’ pay—issues that continue to shape public perception of the current administration.
