Executive Secretary Bersamin Denies 'Commitment' Allegations In Senate Probe

Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin has forcefully denied an allegation linking his office to a supposed 15% financial "commitment" mentioned in a sworn statement to the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.
The statement, submitted by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Undersecretary Bernardo, imputed that a financial delivery was made supposedly for the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES).
'I deny the imputation contained in the sworn statement... The imputation is not true,' Mr. Bersamin said in his statement.
The Executive Secretary offered two main points for his denial. First, he stressed that the OES has 'no involvement in any way with budgetary allocations relevant to the DPWH.' Second, he asserted that his office has "no dealings whatsoever" with either DPWH Undersecretary Bernardo or Department of Education (DepEd) Undersecretary Trygve Olaivar, who has already publicly denied the allegations made by Mr. Bernardo.
Mr. Bersamin concluded by affirming his integrity, stating, 'I stand by my untarnished record as a long-serving public servant, first as a career judicial officer and now as the Executive Secretary.'
