10 Filipinos Rescued And Brought Home From Cambodia; DFA Reminds Public To Think Twice About Online Job Offers

Ten more Filipinos from Oddar Meanchey Province in Cambodia are finally home safe and sound. The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed earlier today that they were successfully repatriated, thanks to the quick help of Cambodian authorities and the Philippine Embassy in Phnom Penh.
When the group arrived, representatives from different government agencies — the DFA, Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) — were right there at the airport to welcome them personally and make sure they got all the help they needed.
To make things a little easier for them, the Philippine Embassy gave each repatriate care packages and even shouldered their flight expenses through the DFA’s Assistance to Nationals (ATN) Fund. They didn’t stop there — after a long nine-hour trip to Phnom Penh, the Embassy’s team met them at the Immigration headquarters with hot meals and fresh supplies, making sure they were comfortable before flying home.
This heartwarming effort highlights the strong and friendly ties between the Philippines and Cambodia. The Philippine Embassy also expressed its sincere thanks to the Cambodian government for helping make the repatriation happen smoothly.
But while the rescue was a success, the DFA once again reminded everyone: be very careful when considering job offers you see on social media. They’re urging Filipinos to read Embassy Advisory No. 09-2025, which warns about scams that could put people in dangerous situations abroad.
Yes, the Philippine Foreign Service is always ready to help — but they’re also asking for everyone’s cooperation. As they put it:
“Tumulong po tayong pigilan mauwi sa kapahamakan ang ating kapwa Pilipino.”
(Let’s help stop our fellow Filipinos from ending up in harm’s way.)
Stay smart and stay safe, kababayan!
