2 Solid North Bus Drivers Test Positive For Drugs; Could Lose Licenses For Good

In the wake of a tragic road accident that claimed 10 lives, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) isn’t holding back. As part of a stricter safety crackdown, two drivers from Solid North Bus Inc. tested positive for illegal drugs—and things are not looking good for them.

According to the LTO, both drivers are now awaiting confirmatory testing, but if the results hold, they could be facing the perpetual revocation of their driver’s licenses. That means no more driving professionally—ever. Criminal charges might also be on the table.

But it’s not just about the drivers. The bus company itself is under the microscope. All 276 Solid North bus units were called in for roadworthiness inspections at the LTO’s Motor Vehicle Inspection Center in Zambales. So far, only 46 have passed. Yep—only 46. The rest are still being checked.

This all comes in response to the deadly Labor Day crash on SCTEX involving a Solid North bus, which left 10 passengers dead and several others injured. The government clearly isn’t taking any chances moving forward.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon made it clear: this is all part of the Marcos administration’s push to keep public transportation safe and reliable. “Passenger safety is the top priority,” Dizon said, echoing the President’s marching orders.

With stricter rules, deeper inspections, and zero tolerance for drug use, it looks like the days of turning a blind eye in the transport sector are over.
