MANILA — Household expenses are set to ease for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) following the implementation of a new policy granting discounts on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), a basic necessity for many Filipino families.

Under Joint Administrative Order No. 24-02 issued by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Agriculture (DA), and Department of Energy (DOE), qualified senior citizens and PWDs nationwide may avail of a 5% discount on LPG.

“Under DTI-DA-DOE JAO-24-02, our fellow Senior Citizens and Persons with Disabilities may avail of a 5% discount on LPG.”

According to the agencies, the order aims to lessen the impact of rising fuel prices and other basic commodities, especially on sectors that need greater support. The discount is expected to help reduce monthly household expenses related to cooking and other daily needs.

The benefit may be availed of at accredited LPG retailers upon presentation of a valid senior citizen or PWD ID. The government continues to urge establishments to strictly implement the discount and comply with the prescribed guidelines.

Amid ongoing challenges in energy prices, the new discount is seen as a concrete step by the government to support the welfare of seniors and PWDs, and to ensure that essential services remain more affordable for everyone.
