50 Years Of Friendship: Marcos, Morocco's King Exchange Warm Words On Diplomatic Milestone

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. just sent a letter to King Mohammed VI of Morocco to mark a major milestone — the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Morocco, celebrated on April 10, 2025.
In his message, President Marcos took a moment to reflect on the half-century of friendship between the two nations, calling it a time to look back at their shared accomplishments and also to look forward. He described the occasion as one that “not only allows us to reflect on the achievements of the past five decades but also provides the direction…for the next 50 years.”
Not to be outdone, King Mohammed VI also penned his own congratulatory message to the Philippine President. In it, the Moroccan monarch highlighted how the strong ties between their countries have flourished over the years. He described the Morocco-Philippines relationship as “a model of bilateral ties rooted in mutual esteem and fruitful cooperation.”
It’s not every day two countries celebrate 50 years of diplomacy, and it’s clear that both leaders see this golden anniversary as more than just a number — it’s a symbol of lasting respect, collaboration, and shared goals. Here’s to another 50 years of friendship between the Philippines and Morocco!
