A pickup truck driver caught on video counterflowing in Malolos, Bulacan, is now facing serious sanctions after the Land Transportation Office (LTO) ordered the suspension of his driver’s license for 90 days.

The incident, which quickly went viral on social media, showed a Nissan Navara (plate number NFK1408) disregarding traffic rules by driving against the flow of vehicles, endangering road users in the process.

Following the release of a show cause order, both the registered owner of the vehicle, Alan Danganan Tayag, and the designated driver were summoned by the LTO to explain why they should not face administrative charges. The driver is set to respond to possible violations, including Driving Against Traffic, Obstruction of Traffic, and being deemed an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle.

The order requires the concerned parties to appear before the LTO’s Intelligence and Investigation Division in Quezon City on August 22, 2025, and submit their written explanation. Pending the hearing, the driver’s license has been preventively suspended for 90 days, while the vehicle has been placed under alarm status. The driver must also surrender his license on the day of the hearing.

Authorities emphasized that failure to attend the scheduled proceeding would be treated as a waiver of the right to be heard, allowing the investigation to move forward based on existing records.

The move aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s call for motorists to practice patience and responsibility on the road, underscoring that reckless driving and blatant disregard for traffic rules compromise the safety of everyone.
