Petro Gazz didn't have to look far—or maybe just home—to find the right people to lead their team.

The Angels announced a unique coaching appointment on Tuesday night: they’ve hired Gary and Lisa Van Sickle, the parents of their reigning All-Filipino Conference MVP, Brooke Van Sickle, to take the helm for the upcoming 2025 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference.

It’s an inspiring narrative twist for the team. As Petro Gazz put it in their Facebook post, "They nurtured greatness at home, and now they bring that same passion to the sidelines to guide our team to greater heights! The coaching tandem of the Van Sickles takes charge of the Angels."

Gary Van Sickle, who played for the University of Hawaiʻi from 1988 to 1990, will serve as the head coach. He takes over from interim mentor Brian Esquibel, who stepped in after Japanese coach Koji Tsuzurabara departed during the PVL On Tour. Lisa Van Sickle, a former player for Hawaii Pacific University, will join him on the bench as the assistant coach.

"Here’s to a new era! Welcome, Coach Gary and Coach Lisa," the team’s post concluded, signaling an exciting new chapter for the Angels with this seasoned, family-oriented coaching duo.
