ABS-CBN Breaks Silence As TV5 Deal Faces Uncertainty
ABS-CBN File
ABS-CBN is speaking directly to its Kapamilyas after confirming that its partnership with TV5 may soon come to an end.

In a message released on December 4, the network said it had received official notice that its deal with TV5 could be terminated, and that they are now doing everything possible to fix the situation within the limited time given to them.

The company stressed that it wanted to be transparent with its audience about what’s happening.

ABS-CBN acknowledged that ever since losing its broadcast franchise in 2020—right in the middle of the pandemic—it has faced some of the toughest challenges in its history. The network said it has been trying to rebuild from scratch while operating at a loss, yet it has continued to stay true to its mission of public service.

The message also hinted at serious financial constraints but emphasized that these struggles have never weakened the company’s dedication to Filipinos.

“We know we have obligations to fulfill, and we're working as hard as we can to honor them,” ABS-CBN assured.

Still, the company said that no matter what happens with the TV5 partnership, their connection with viewers will remain.

“Our service to you will continue. We will find ways to reach you, just as we found our way back to you after losing our franchise,” the network said.

ABS-CBN ended its message with a reminder of its core purpose:

“In the Service of the Filipino is our purpose — and we will pursue this no matter the odds.”

The network also thanked supporters who continue to believe in them during yet another challenging moment in their journey.
