The search for justice in the murder of businessman Dominic Sytin has taken a dramatic turn, as a key accomplice has finally admitted his role in the crime—and pointed to the alleged mastermind behind it.
Edrian T. Rementilla, also known as Ryan Rementilla or Oliver Fuentes, pleaded guilty before the Regional Trial Court Branch 7 in Manila on March 27, 2025. In a major breakthrough for the case, he identified Alan Dennis Sytin as the person who orchestrated the killing.
Following his confession, the court ordered Rementilla’s commitment to the Manila City Jail. His testimony is expected to significantly strengthen the case against Alan Dennis Sytin, who was apprehended in Malaysia on March 22, 2025.
The Hunt for the Alleged Mastermind
Authorities are now working on bringing Alan Dennis Sytin back to the Philippines. The Philippine Embassy in Malaysia is processing the necessary travel documents for his repatriation, thanks to the joint efforts of the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), the Office of the Police Attaché in Malaysia, and the Royal Malaysia Police.
PRO3 Regional Director PBGEN Jean S. Fajardo emphasized that the police remain committed to seeing justice served.
“This latest development underscores our dedication to pursuing justice. The guilty plea of Rementilla strengthens the case against the mastermind, and with the pending repatriation of Alan Dennis Sytin, we are one step closer to achieving full closure for the family of Dominic Sytin,” Fajardo stated.
Justice Closing In
With one key player confessing and another in custody, authorities believe they are nearing the final chapter of this years-long pursuit of justice. The Philippine police continue to send a strong message: fugitives can run, but they can’t hide forever.
