Alcantara Returns P110M: Ex-DPWH Engineer Hands Over Cash In Flood-Control Probe
Screengrab from DOJ
Former DPWH district engineer Henry Alcantara has returned ₱110 million in cash to the Department of Justice (DOJ) as part of the restitution linked to irregularities in flood-control projects.
According to Justice Secretary Frederick Vida, the handover — done through his legal counsel — forms part of the government’s ongoing effort to recover public funds. The DOJ confirmed that the returned amount will be forwarded to the Bureau of the Treasury.
Alcantara’s turnover was conducted formally at the DOJ, where officials received stacks of cash totaling ₱110 million. This marks one of the largest restitutions so far tied to the alleged flood-control anomaly.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. also noted the development, saying the DOJ has confirmed that Alcantara has already returned ₱110 million and is expected to return ₱200 million more.
“This government intends to bring back every peso, every asset, every person responsible and return it to the Filipino people,” the President said.
More updates are expected as the DOJ moves to secure the next tranche of the restitution and continues its broader investigation.
