Apple just took its most powerful tablet to the next level. The tech giant unveiled the new iPad Pro powered by the M5 chip, boasting huge leaps in speed, graphics, and on-device AI — all packed into its thinnest, sleekest design yet.
“Powered by the next generation of Apple silicon, the new iPad Pro delivers our most advanced and versatile iPad experience yet,” said John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering. “iPad Pro with M5 unlocks endless possibilities for creativity and productivity — with a huge leap in AI performance and a big boost in graphics, superfast wireless connectivity, and game-changing iPadOS 26 features, it pushes the boundaries of what iPad can do yet again.”
Power Meets AI
The new M5 chip is Apple’s most advanced silicon yet for iPad — delivering up to 3.5x faster AI performance than M4 models, and up to 5.6x faster than M1 versions. With a redesigned 10-core GPU and a Neural Accelerator in every core, the M5 makes AI-powered creativity and productivity seamless.
Tasks like AI-based image generation in Draw Things or video masking in DaVinci Resolve are now smoother and faster than ever. The 16-core Neural Engine also powers Apple’s new “Apple Intelligence” features, helping users create, organize, and interact more intuitively across apps.
Blazing Performance and Pro Graphics
Apple says the M5 brings a massive graphics boost, introducing next-gen ray tracing for ultra-realistic lighting and shadows. Designers, gamers, and video editors will see up to 6.7x faster rendering compared to older M1 models.
The chip also features a new 10-core CPU — four performance cores and six efficiency cores — optimized for everything from 3D modeling and video editing to multitasking across demanding apps.
Faster Connections, Smarter Design
The N1 wireless chip introduces Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread support, while the C1X modem delivers 50% faster cellular speeds on 5G. For pros who work on the go, that means faster uploads, smoother streaming, and more efficient data use.
Design-wise, the iPad Pro remains Apple’s most stunning yet — with the 11-inch model just 5.3 mm thin and the 13-inch version even slimmer at 5.1 mm. Both feature the Ultra Retina XDR display, offering breathtaking color accuracy and brightness up to 1,600 nits for HDR.
iPadOS 26: Built for Work and Creativity
Running on iPadOS 26, the new iPad Pro introduces a reimagined interface with “Liquid Glass” visuals, a new windowing system for easier multitasking, and an upgraded Files app for better organization.
The OS also brings Preview to iPad for quick PDF editing, improved audio tools for creators, and the debut of Apple Intelligence across apps — enabling smarter shortcuts, live translations, and auto-sorted reminders.
Accessories That Complete the Package
Apple also refreshed its accessories lineup. The new Magic Keyboard now features an aluminum palm rest and function row, while the Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil (USB-C) offer precise tools for artists and note-takers alike.
Pricing and Availability
The new iPad Pro will be available in space black and silver, in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes. Pre-orders start today, with units hitting stores on October 22.
