April 22, 2025: A Day Of National Mourning For The Legendary Nora Aunor

Malacañang has officially declared April 22, 2025, as a Day of National Mourning following the passing of one of the Philippines’ greatest treasures — National Artist Nora Cabaltera Villamayor, known to millions simply as Nora Aunor.
Through Proclamation No. 870, signed by the President, the nation is called to honor and remember Nora Aunor’s immense contributions to Philippine arts and culture. The proclamation invites every Filipino, wherever they may be, to pay tribute to a woman whose voice, artistry, and spirit helped shape generations.
On this day, all government buildings across the country will lower the Philippine flag to half-mast, a powerful symbol of our collective grief and deep respect for a life that inspired so many.
Nora Aunor wasn’t just a superstar — she was an icon who broke barriers, touched hearts, and gave a voice to the dreams of the ordinary Filipino. Her legacy will live on, not just in films, music, and awards, but in the very soul of the nation she so dearly loved.
