Barzaga Pushes Impeachment Bid Against Marcos Over Flood-Control Scandal

Cavite Representative Kiko Barzaga has announced plans to file an impeachment complaint against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., citing betrayal of public trust as the main ground.
“So, under the grounds of betrayal of public trust, I am filing an impeachment for President Marcos, and hopefully Congress will remove him soon, so we can start investigating those involved in flood control anomalies,” Barzaga declared.
He ended his statement with, “Bye-bye, Marcos. Bye-bye, Marcos.”
Barzaga made the announcement while showing a copy of the impeachment document during a live broadcast. However, as of Wednesday, reports indicate that the complaint has been prepared and readied but not yet formally filed with the House of Representatives.
The move comes amid mounting outrage over alleged irregularities in multi-billion-peso flood control projects, which have become the subject of ongoing Senate and executive investigations.
Barzaga’s statement quickly stirred debate among lawmakers and the public, with supporters welcoming the call for accountability and critics questioning whether the impeachment bid can gain enough support in Congress.
