BI Pulls Off Smooth, Stress-Free Airport Experience For Travelers This Holy Week

Travelers had a much smoother Holy Week journey this year, thanks to the Bureau of Immigration (BI) stepping up big time.

According to BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado, operations at major international airports across the country went off without a hitch—even with the huge crowds. “Through the guidance of the President and in support of his Bagong Pilipinas campaign, the Bureau of Immigration remains committed to providing swift, safe, and seamless service to the traveling public,” Viado shared.

And the numbers tell the story: the BI recorded a whopping 371,092 arrivals and 432,763 departures nationwide during the Holy Week rush. At the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) alone, daily arrivals hit 51,000, while departures soared to around 61,000 passengers a day.

So how did they pull it off? Viado said it was all about teamwork and preparation. More than 40 extra immigration officers were deployed at NAIA to make sure all counters were fully staffed, keeping lines moving and frustrations low.

One big game-changer was the newly opened OFW wing at NAIA Terminal 3, which made processing faster and easier for our hardworking overseas Filipino workers and their families.

“In line with our Bagong Immigration vision, we continue to modernize our systems, enhance our manpower capacity, and improve frontline service delivery,” Viado said. He also emphasized that these upgrades aren’t just for show—they’re part of a bigger push to support President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s vision of a Bagong Pilipinas.

In short, the BI’s smooth Holy Week operations are proof that real, positive changes are happening at our airports—and Filipino travelers are definitely feeling the difference.
