BIR Issues New Memo On Revised Tax Exemption Filing Fees

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has issued Revenue Memorandum Circular (RMC) No. 84-2025 to inform and guide its internal staff and all concerned parties about an updated fee structure for tax exemption applications.

The new RMC effectively circularizes (formally distributes) the Department of Finance (DOF) Department Order No. 012-2025, which details a "Revised Schedule of Filing Fees Imposed on Applications for Tax Exemption Indorsements (TEIs) and Non-TEIs in the Revenue Office."

This means that organizations and individuals applying for Tax Exemption Indorsements (TEIs), as well as those submitting Non-TEI applications within the Revenue Office, will now be subject to the revised fee schedule set forth by the DOF. All internal revenue officials and employees are specifically instructed in the memorandum to ensure this Circular receives "a wide publicity as possible," indicating the BIR's effort to quickly disseminate the updated fee information to the public and all applicants.

The issuance of RMC No. 84-2025 underscores a change in the administrative costs associated with securing tax exemption status and related clearances from the revenue office. Applicants should take note of the new DOF schedule to ensure correct filing fee payments moving forward.
