Bolton Street Transformers Spark After Strong Davao Quake

Residents near Bolton Street in Davao City reported loud explosions and sparks from electrical transformer posts shortly after a strong earthquake struck the region on the morning of October 10, 2025.
According to witness accounts and local video footage, three transformers along Bolton Street allegedly burst following the tremor, with sparks seen near the McDonald’s Bolton area. Fortunately, there were no immediate reports of injuries.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) recorded a strong earthquake that morning, which was felt across Davao and neighboring provinces. The tremor caused brief panic among residents, temporary power interruptions, and minor damage in some areas. PHIVOLCS has continued to monitor aftershocks and assess the extent of the quake’s impact.
Authorities responded quickly to secure the area and urged the public to stay clear of damaged electrical lines and unstable structures while inspections were ongoing.
City officials reminded residents to stay calm and alert, emphasizing the importance of following safety protocols and updates from official sources.
