The nation is in mourning after a Philippine Air Force (PAF) Super Huey helicopter tragically crashed in Loreto, Agusan del Sur on Tuesday, November 4, claiming the lives of six brave airmen who were on a humanitarian mission.

Authorities confirmed that all six bodies believed to be the pilot and crew members have been recovered. Their identities are being withheld pending notification of their families.

According to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), the aircraft was en route from the Davao Air Station to the Tactical Operations Group (TOG) 10 in Butuan City when the incident occurred. The helicopter had been deployed to conduct Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) operations related to Typhoon Tino.

In a statement, Civil Defense Administrator Undersecretary Harold Cabreros expressed the OCD’s deepest condolences to the bereaved families, honoring the courage and dedication of the fallen airmen.

“They served the nation with selflessness and bravery. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and the entire Philippine Air Force community during this difficult time,” Cabreros said.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) also paid tribute, standing in solidarity with the PAF as they grieve the loss of their comrades who died in the line of duty.

“The aircraft and its crew were on a Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) mission—serving communities in need and embodying the highest ideals of service beyond self,” the AFP statement read.

“We honor their dedication, skill, and courage, which remind us of the profound risks faced by those who serve—even in missions of compassion.”

Meanwhile, troops from the 60th Infantry Battalion under the 1001st Infantry Brigade and the 10th Infantry Division quickly secured the crash site, ensuring safety in the area and assisting in the ongoing investigation.

As the nation bows its head in grief, the memory of these fallen heroes will live on—etched in the hearts of Filipinos who they served with unwavering devotion.
