The executive branch is pushing back strongly against recent remarks from some members of the House of Representatives, accusing them of attempting to shift the blame for corruption and failures of governance onto the Cabinet.
In a statement, the Executive Secretary underscored that it would not tolerate any attack on the integrity and reputation of the executive branch. Officials described the recent criticisms as political theatrics that threaten to hold the national budget process hostage.
“All our investigations into the anomalies will be futile if the sources of corruption remain unchecked,” the statement read. “We urge the House of Representatives to heed the demand of the people for full accountability: clean your house first.”
The pronouncement comes amid growing tension between the two branches of government as discussions over budget allocations and corruption probes intensify.
