MANILA — Malacañang on Monday confirmed a major shake-up in President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s Cabinet following the resignations of Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman.
Palace Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro announced that both officials stepped down “out of delicadeza,” after their departments were mentioned in ongoing investigations into alleged irregularities in flood control projects. Castro said the officials voluntarily offered their resignations as scrutiny over the issue intensified.
President Marcos accepted the resignations and immediately appointed replacements to ensure continuity within the administration.
Finance Secretary Ralph Recto has been named the new Executive Secretary, taking over Bersamin’s position. Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs Frederick Go has been appointed as the new Finance Secretary.
At the Department of Budget and Management, Undersecretary Rolando Toledo has been designated Officer in Charge following Pangandaman’s departure.
The Palace has not yet released additional details on the ongoing investigation but reiterated that the administration remains committed to transparency as the probe into alleged flood control anomalies continues.
