Calumpit Mayor Blasts Corrupt Officials, Calls Out Congressman: 'Where Are You, DAD?'
Screengrab from Lem Faustino
The Mayor of Calumpit, Bulacan, has unleashed an angry tirade against what she calls "corrupt politicians," demanding answers and accountability. In a fiery speech, Mayor Lem Faustino directly challenged Congressman Danny A. Domingo, known by the moniker "DAD," to explain himself to the people.
"DAD, where are you?" Faustino demanded. "You don't need to be summoned to the House. You don't need to be summoned to the Senate. All your children are asking you, where are you? If you are not guilty, then explain yourself."
Faustino's outrage stems from what she claims is a history of corruption in flood control projects, which have failed to protect her town from constant flooding. She revealed that while the town is drowning, billions of pesos in flood control funds have gone missing. She cited a specific project in Barangay Meyto with a ₱60 million budget, which was supposedly completed, yet two other projects—worth ₱90 million each—are nowhere to be found.
"What did you do? Did you use your position? Did you use the people who are suffering from floods to fill your own pockets?" she asked.
The mayor, who has only been in office for three years after a 44-year career in the private sector, said she would not be intimidated by threats to her political career. "I will stand up. I won't waste this one chance I have to serve the people of Calumpit," she declared. "I won't let down my parents, my siblings, the priests, and everyone who believes in me. I don't care who gets hit here, whether it's a friend or a party mate. They must be held accountable."
Faustino also had a clear message for any officials involved in the alleged corruption: "Silence is a sign that you are guilty." She urged Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon to listen to the cries of the people of Calumpit and ensure a proper solution to the flooding problem.
"You stole the normal life of the people of Calumpit, of the towns that get flooded. You stole the hope that we have longed for," she said, visibly emotional. "We will not stop with just an investigation. This must continue. We are all paying our taxes. We just want to see that the money we pay is going to the right projects and not into the pockets of politicians."
Mayor Faustino’s passionate stand highlights the growing frustration among local leaders with systemic corruption and the lack of action on crucial infrastructure projects.
