Carlos Edriel Yulo continues to affirm his place among Asia’s elite gymnasts after earning the bronze medal in the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Individual All-Around event at the 2025 Asian Championships in Jecheon, Korea.

Yulo, who was a finalist in the Paris 2024 Olympics, finished the all-around competition with a total score of 83.633. His signature flair was on full display on floor (14.433) and vault (14.500), with solid routines on parallel bars (14.167) and the horizontal bar (13.800) helping him secure a podium spot.

The event marked a strong return to continental competition for the Filipino standout, who navigated the high-pressure environment with his usual precision. It was a field stacked with Olympic talent, including the eventual gold and silver medalists from powerhouse Japan — Oka Shinnosuke and Hasegawa Tsuyoshi — who demonstrated why their team remains at the forefront of world gymnastics.

Oka, the reigning Olympic all-around champion, once again delivered a composed and technically excellent performance, finishing with 85.131. Hasegawa followed closely with 83.965. Yulo’s bronze, meanwhile, served as a testament to both his consistency and growth as a complete all-around gymnast.

This year’s championship has not only underscored Japan’s continued dominance following their Olympic team gold but also highlighted the region’s emerging talents and evolving skill levels. For Yulo, sharing the podium with two of Japan’s finest only adds depth to his credentials heading into the rest of the season.

With apparatus finals still ahead, Yulo will have further opportunities to showcase his strengths — particularly in his favorite events where he has previously claimed world titles. And while the spotlight was firmly on the established stars, the opening day in Jecheon offered a clear message: Asia’s gymnasts are not only keeping pace with the world — they’re setting the standard.
