CBCP Urges National Day Of Prayer Amid Flood Control Corruption Scandal

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) is calling on Filipinos to uphold truth, integrity, and moral responsibility in light of the ongoing flood control corruption scandal.

“Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will not be known.” — Luke 12:2-3

In a statement released on October 6, 2025, the bishops warned that any political maneuver to block or redirect investigations would only deepen public suspicion of a cover-up.

“The Filipino people are watching closely… A nation cannot heal when its moral arteries are clogged by corruption and self-interest,” the CBCP said.

The bishops specifically urged government leaders to allow the Independent Commission on Infrastructure (ICI)—established on September 11, 2025—to investigate irregularities in flood control projects freely and without interference. “No to a whitewash. Yes to full accountability,” the CBCP added.

As part of their call for moral reflection, the CBCP has invited everyone to participate in a National Day of Prayer and Public Repentance on October 7, 2025, coinciding with the Feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary. The bishops encouraged collective reflection and renewal:

“Come, Holy Spirit, renew the face of the earth, renew the heart of our nation.”

The CBCP’s message comes amid growing public scrutiny of flood control projects, with citizens and advocacy groups demanding transparency and justice.
