Chairman Paduano To Pro-Duterte Vloggers: Attack The Tri-Comm Hearing And Face Contempt

Looks like things are heating up in Congress. House Committee on Public Accounts Chairman Joseph Stephen Paduano isn’t mincing words when it comes to pro-Duterte vloggers and influencers. His message? Criticize or insult the ongoing House probe on fake news and online disinformation after the hearing, and you might just find yourself cited for contempt.
During a recent session of the House Tri-Committee investigation, Paduano reminded resource persons that their internal rules strictly prohibit post-hearing attacks on the proceedings or lawmakers.
“Just to remind you – Section 11 of our internal rules, Paragraph F – we will not allow discussions or attacking, insulting this committee hearing after the suspension of this hearing because you will be in violation… we will be forced to cite you in contempt (undue interference),” Paduano warned.
And this isn’t just an empty threat—Paduano pointed out that the House had already exercised this rule in the past. A block timer from Bombo Radyo Cagayan was cited for contempt for attacking a previous hearing’s outcome.
Subpoenas for Pro-Duterte Vloggers
The controversy doesn’t stop there. The House panel is also cracking down on several pro-Duterte vloggers and influencers who ignored show-cause orders to attend the hearing. Among those subpoenaed are former NTF-ELCAC spokesperson Lorraine Badoy, vlogger Jeffrey “Ka Eric” Celiz, and Allan Troy “Sass” Rogando Sasot.
They’re not alone—21 others have also been subpoenaed, including Alex Distor, Atty. Glen Chong, and Mary Catherine Binag. The motion, initiated by Paduano, was quickly approved by Surigao del Sur Rep. Johnny Pimentel.
With the next hearing set for April 8 (subject to changes), all eyes are on how this probe unfolds. Will the subpoenaed vloggers comply, or will we see more legal fireworks?
