Chery Tiggo Finally Breaks Through; Crushes Galeries Tower In Straight Sets

The wait is over for Chery Tiggo. After a string of close heartbreaks, the Crossovers finally broke through with an emphatic straight-set victory over Galeries Tower, 25-9, 25-16, 25-23, in the PVL Reinforced Conference on Thursday at the FilOil EcoOil Arena.
From the opening whistle, Chery Tiggo looked determined to end its skid. The first two sets were all Crossovers, who dominated on both offense and defense. The third frame, however, gave fans a glimpse of the team’s renewed composure under pressure.
Even when the Highrisers managed to tie the score at 23 on Jean Asis’ runner, Chery Tiggo stayed calm and composed. Pauline Gaston answered with a powerful hit through a single block, and Shaya Adorador sealed the deal with an off-the-block strike — two clutch plays that perfectly captured the team’s regained confidence.
On the other hand, Galeries Tower couldn’t convert on several key attacks late in the match, as the Crossovers’ defense held firm to close out the one-hour, 22-minute battle between the previously winless squads.
Gaston shone brightest with 10 points, including two blocks, earning Best Player of the Game honors. After the win, she credited teamwork and persistence for their long-awaited breakthrough.
“We really polished everything. It wasn’t easy, but we showed what we’ve been working on,” said Gaston. “There’s still a lot to fix, but we’re committed to staying together and playing as one.”
Import Yuni Batista led all scorers with 20 points, overpowering Galeries Tower’s Jelene Cvijovic, who managed only six. Ara Galang added 11 points, while Cess Robles, Mylene Paat, and Shaya Adorador combined for key contributions to keep the offense flowing.
For Chery Tiggo, this win was more than just ending a losing streak — it was a statement. After coming up short in their first three games against ZUS Coffee, Akari, and Petro Gazz, the Crossovers finally proved they can finish strong.
