FILE
Cavite Representative Francisco Barzaga is now facing a complaint for inciting to sedition filed by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office (QCPO).

The QCPO has formally issued a subpoena ordering Barzaga to personally appear before the investigating prosecutor at the Justice Cecilia Muñoz Palma Hall, Quezon City Hall Compound, for a preliminary investigation scheduled on November 18 and 25, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.

According to the order, Barzaga is required to submit a counter-affidavit along with supporting documents and witness statements in six copies. The directive also states that no motion to dismiss will be entertained, and failure to comply will be treated as a waiver of his right to present evidence.

The subpoena, signed on November 12, 2025, further emphasizes that all parties must personally appear before the investigating prosecutor, pursuant to Office Order No. 52-B of the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office, which requires affidavits to be subscribed and sworn before the assigned prosecutor.

The CIDG has yet to release details regarding the basis of the sedition complaint. As of press time, Rep. Barzaga has not issued any public statement about the case.
