MANILA, Philippines — With the threat of a looming weather disturbance, various local government units have announced the suspension of classes for all levels, both public and private, for Thursday, September 25, 2025. The move is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and teachers as heavy rains and strong winds are expected in many parts of the country.
In Luzon, class suspensions have been declared across a wide area. In the Ilocos Region, Pangasinan municipalities such as Santa Barbara, Aguilar, and Calasiao have announced "no classes" for the day. Some areas, like Aguilar, are also shifting to online or modular distance learning.
The CALABARZON region is also affected, with province-wide class suspensions in Laguna and Quezon. In Rizal, several municipalities including Taytay, Morong, Binangonan, and Tanay have announced suspensions. Some of these areas, like Taytay, Morong, and Tanay, will shift to modular or online learning.
A significant number of areas in the MIMAROPA and Bicol regions are also affected. The entire province of Marinduque has suspended classes, with some municipalities like Boac also suspending government work. In the Bicol Region, the provinces of Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Masbate, and Sorsogon have announced a suspension of classes in all levels.
Further south, class suspensions have been declared in Tuburan, Cebu in Region VII, and in several areas in Region VIII, including the provinces of Biliran and Northern Samar.
While some areas have a one-day suspension, others have announced an extension. Santa Barbara in Pangasinan, for instance, has suspended classes until Friday, September 26. In Rizal, Taytay and Morong's suspensions will last until Saturday, September 27. Meanwhile, Marinduque's Buenavista and Gasan, Romblon, and several towns in Camarines Norte have also extended the class suspensions until Friday.
Authorities are reminding the public to stay updated on official announcements from their respective local government units and to take the necessary precautions as the weather continues to pose a risk to vulnerable areas.
