Contractor couple Pacifico "Curlee" and Cezarah "Sarah" Discaya have been rendered financially constrained following the freezing of all their bank accounts, according to their legal counsel, Atty. Cornelio Samaniego III.
Atty. Samaniego provided the confirmation on Tuesday, stating that the move to freeze the accounts has currently precluded any discussion regarding the surrender of additional assets, such as luxury vehicles, to the authorities investigating the alleged irregularities in flood control projects.
"They are financially constrained now. Their bank accounts have been frozen. All their bank accounts have been frozen," the lawyer confirmed in an interview.
The Discayas, who are key figures and protected witnesses in the large-scale corruption investigation involving billions in government contracts, appeared before a closed-door hearing of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) earlier today. Their counsel indicated that the couple provided "tell-all" testimonies during the proceeding.
This financial restriction is a direct consequence of actions taken by the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC), which had previously announced the freezing of bank accounts belonging to individuals implicated in the corruption complaints. This development marks a significant escalation in the ongoing legal and financial repercussions stemming from the corruption probe.
