Davao City First District Councilor Luna Acosta recently gave the public a glimpse of a quiet but meaningful moment of gratitude shared with Vice President Sara Duterte, her legal team, and the petitioners behind the successful move to dismiss the impeachment complaint filed against her.

Through photos posted on social media, Councilor Acosta shared snapshots from their Thanksgiving celebration, capturing what she described as “ngiting tagumpay”—the smile of triumph—following the Senate’s decision to archive the articles of impeachment.

While the mood was one of cautious optimism and gratitude, Acosta also underscored that the process isn’t over just yet. “We still have to file a comment to the Motion for Reconsideration filed by the House of Representatives,” she wrote. “But we are confident in our legal arguments and believe that due process and the rule of law remain supreme above all.”

The celebration served not only as a moment of relief for those involved, but also as a reaffirmation of their belief in the country’s democratic institutions. “Para sa bayan,” Acosta added—emphasizing that their efforts, both legal and symbolic, are anchored in service to the Filipino people.

As the next legal steps unfold, the Vice President’s camp appears focused and prepared to continue asserting its position, guided by the same principles that brought them this far: process, prudence, and faith in the law.
