David Alcaide Wins Inaugural Philippines Open Pool Championship

David Alcaide has claimed the title of the inaugural 2025 LiveSB.io Philippines Open Pool Championship, defeating Finland’s Arseni Sevastyanov with a commanding 13–3 victory in the final at Gateway Mall, Quezon City.

Known as “El Matador,” Alcaide showcased his elite skills throughout the tournament, culminating in a dominant performance that reaffirmed his status among the world’s top pool players. His victory earned him the championship trophy, a significant prize purse, and a wildcard entry into the prestigious Mosconi Cup.

Reflecting on his triumph, Alcaide said:

“I have no words to express what I feel 🥰. I want to say thanks to everybody, especially all the fans from the Philippines who made this week special, something I will never forget and I will always carry you in my heart.”

The tournament, part of the World Nineball Tour, featured five days of intense competition from October 21–25, 2025. In the final, Alcaide took control early, leading 5–1, and maintained his composure and tactical play to secure a decisive victory over Sevastyanov.

Organized by Matchroom Pool, the Philippines Open highlighted the talents of international players while underscoring the country’s growing prominence in the global pool scene.

Alcaide’s victory marks a milestone for both the tournament and Philippine pool, reflecting the sport’s vibrant future in the country.
