MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has released ₱1.684 billion to replenish the Quick Response Funds (QRF) of key government agencies tasked with disaster response and recovery.

The move comes after President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ordered agencies to speed up rehabilitation efforts in areas devastated by recent calamities.

Of the total amount, ₱1 billion will go to the Department of Agriculture (DA) to support recovery programs for regions hit by African Swine Fever and recent tropical cyclones. The fund will also act as a standby resource to aid farmers and fisherfolk affected by future disasters, including the possible aftermath of Super Typhoon Uwan.

“Malaki ang damage ng mga bagyo at sakuna sa ating agrikultura at ang numero uno pong biktima n’yan ‘yung ating mga magsasaka at mangingisda,” said Budget Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman, emphasizing the government’s commitment to protect the agriculture sector.

The rest of the fund will be distributed to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to enhance relief operations and emergency response capabilities.

Pangandaman said the timely release of the QRF ensures that agencies have immediate access to funds for aid, rehabilitation, and other urgent needs in times of disaster.
