The human toll of Typhoon Tino continues to rise, with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reporting 188 deaths as of Friday — a grim reminder of the storm’s devastating force.

The latest data shows Cebu bearing the brunt with 139 fatalities, followed by Negros Occidental (24), Negros Oriental (9), Agusan del Sur (6), Capiz (3), Southern Leyte (2), and one each in Antique, Bohol, Iloilo, Leyte, and Guimaras. So far, only one death in Leyte has been officially confirmed.

Authorities also reported 135 missing persons, mostly in Cebu, and 96 injured, the majority of whom were from the Visayas. The NDRRMC clarified that these numbers are still under validation and may change as reports come in from the field.

The typhoon’s impact stretched across 5,535 barangays in eight regions, affecting over 635,000 families or 2.2 million individuals. Nearly 88,649 families remain in 3,050 evacuation centers, while 23,350 families are receiving aid outside shelters.

Damage to homes has been extensive — 9,321 houses damaged and 264 completely destroyed — leaving thousands to rebuild their lives in the aftermath.

As recovery and relief operations continue, authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and to extend help to those who lost their homes and loved ones in one of the most destructive storms of the year.
