DepEd Cheers Green Light For K-12 Grads To Land Government Jobs

Finally, some big news for our senior and junior high school grads—especially those who’ve been itching to kick-start a career in government.

The Department of Education (DepEd) gave a warm welcome to a recent move by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) that now allows Grade 10 and Grade 12 graduates to apply for first-level positions in the government. These roles typically include clerical, trade, custodial, and other sub-professional jobs.

DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara said this policy shift is perfectly in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s call to expand job opportunities for young Filipinos. “For years, our SHS students have been trained to be work-ready, but policy gaps kept them from entering the public sector. This reform finally bridges that divide,” Angara shared in a statement.

The change came through CSC Resolution No. 2500229, which was signed back in March. It officially recognizes K–12 graduates—specifically those who finished Grade 10 and Grade 12—as eligible for first-level posts. But just a heads-up: applicants still need to meet the standard requirements like proper training, relevant experience, and eligibility for the positions they’re eyeing.

Angara also highlighted that this will be a big boost, particularly for those in the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) track, who have been trained with hands-on skills and real-world readiness in mind.

“We thank the CSC for this landmark decision. It not only opens new doors for our learners but also boosts the government’s talent pool with fresh, young professionals trained under our K–12 system,” he added.

In short? If you’re a K-12 graduate, especially from the TVL track, and looking to land a job in the government—this could be your time to shine.
