DepEd Hits Pause For Wellness: Schools To Take A Breather This October

The Department of Education (DepEd) is giving both teachers and students a well-deserved breather this school year.
DepEd announced that a Midyear Wellness Break will be observed from October 27 to 30, 2025, giving everyone in the education community a chance to rest, recharge, and reset before heading into the second half of the school year.
In a memorandum dated October 22, 2025, DepEd said the break will also serve as a time for teachers to take part in In-Service Training (INSET) programs right after the wellness period.
“We are prioritizing the well-being of our teachers and learners,” the Department said, emphasizing that the initiative aligns with President Marcos’ directive to take better care of the education sector.
DepEd is encouraging schools across the country to use the midyear break wisely — allowing teachers to rest and reflect, while also preparing for professional development activities once the break concludes.
Classes will resume on November 3, 2025, following the four-day pause.
This wellness break is part of DepEd’s broader effort to promote a “Bagong Pilipinas” education culture — one that values both learning excellence and the health and happiness of its people.
