The Department of Education (DepEd) is calling for sustained and full funding of all education programs to tackle the country’s literacy challenges and ensure that every Filipino learner has a fair and equal chance to succeed.

With the backing of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., DepEd said it is realigning resources, streamlining processes, and focusing on what truly matters—foundational learning and literacy recovery.

Reforms are already in motion. These include the rollout of a streamlined K–10 and Senior High School curriculum, nationwide teacher training, the DepEd Principals Academy, expanded classroom construction, improved textbook procurement, and stronger technology integration in schools. DepEd is also deploying more administrative officers to ease the workload of teachers so they can focus more on teaching.

DepEd emphasized that with the help of all government agencies, local government units, and education partners, it is committed to making sure that every peso invested in education truly counts for every Filipino learner.
