Thousands of devotees gathered early at the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno in Quiapo on the First Friday of January, once again showing the deep and enduring devotion of Filipinos to the Black Nazarene.

Carrying their personal intentions, prayers, and thanksgiving, devotees filled the church and its surrounding areas. For many, the First Friday is a meaningful expression of faith—a time not only to ask for guidance and blessings, but also to give thanks despite life’s challenges.

Fridays hold special significance in Quiapo, long recognized as a day of devotion when worshippers from different parts of Metro Manila and nearby provinces come together. Each visit strengthens faith and renews hope, especially for those seeking comfort, healing, and direction.

Church volunteers and authorities helped ensure the orderly and peaceful flow of devotees, while reminding the public to observe discipline and respect within the shrine.

For countless Filipinos, Quiapo is more than just a church. It remains a spiritual home and a wellspring of hope, where prayers continue to rise for a holy, safe, and meaningful celebration of the feast of the Black Nazarene.
