The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has shared heartbreaking news with the nation: one of the four missing Filipinos in Mandalay, Myanmar has sadly been confirmed dead following the powerful earthquake that struck the country on March 28.
According to the DFA, the remains of the Filipino have been positively identified and their family has already been informed. Out of deep respect for the family’s grief and privacy, no further details are being released at this time.
Meanwhile, the search and rescue efforts continue. The DFA says they’re still holding on to hope and are actively working to account for the three other Filipinos who remain missing after the devastating quake.
“We continue to work and hope for the best,” the DFA said in a statement, as the nation joins the families in hoping for good news in the coming days.
The March 28 earthquake in Myanmar caused significant destruction and affected many, including foreign nationals working or living in the area. Filipino officials are closely coordinating with local authorities in Mandalay and continue to provide assistance where needed.
For now, it’s a time of prayers, patience, and support—for the family who just received devastating news, and for those still waiting to hear about their loved ones.
