The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has announced that there will be no classes at all levels in both public and private schools, as well as work suspension in government offices, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, in anticipation of inclement weather as reported by PAGASA.

This means what was supposed to be a four-day break for many students and government workers has now been extended by another day, giving affected communities additional time to stay safe at home.

According to the advisory, the suspension covers Metro Manila and several provinces in Luzon and the Visayas. The following areas are included:

• Metro Manila
• Aurora
• Quezon
• Rizal
• Laguna
• Camarines Norte
• Camarines Sur
• Albay
• Sorsogon
• Catanduanes
• Masbate
• Northern Samar
• Eastern Samar
• Leyte
• Southern Leyte
• Bulacan
• Nueva Ecija
• Pampanga
• Batangas
• Cavite

Authorities are reminding the public to remain alert for further advisories and to prioritize safety, especially in flood-prone and landslide-prone areas.

While the extra day off may feel like an unexpected break for students and workers, officials emphasize that the suspension is a precautionary measure to minimize risks as heavy rains and strong winds are expected to continue.
