Dizon Slams 'Super Substandard' Materials In La Union Flood Control Project

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon did not mince words during his inspection of a flood control project in Barangay Acao, Bauang, La Union, expressing outrage over the use of what he called “super substandard” materials.
The project, which was reported as completed last March, turned out to be far from finished. Dizon criticized the glaring discrepancies, saying such lapses betray the public’s trust and waste taxpayer money.
Baguio City Mayor and Inter-Agency Committee (ICI) Special Adviser Benjamin Magalong joined the inspection, underscoring the Marcos administration’s directive to strictly monitor Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) projects.
Dizon warned that accountability will be pursued, stressing that the government will not tolerate poorly executed infrastructure projects, especially those meant to protect communities from floods.
