Dr. Lox Andutan isn’t having it. Imagine scrolling through social media, only to find your late father’s face plastered on a protest banner—without your permission—linked to a cause that has absolutely nothing to do with his tragic death. That’s exactly what happened to him, and he’s calling it out.

Dr. Andutan, son of the late Dr. Raul Winston Andutan, took to Facebook to clear the air after his father’s photo was used in an extrajudicial killings (EJK) rally at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) over the weekend.

"I'm not sure why these people used my dad's picture, but he did not die from anything related to EJK. Wala [pong] connection to former president Duterte either," he wrote, making it crystal clear that his father’s murder had nothing to do with drugs, politics, or EJK.

According to Andutan, his father—a well-respected urologist—was killed due to “greed, jealousy, and reasons that our family could never understand and accept.” The perpetrators? Already behind bars.

So, why was his dad’s image used in the rally? That’s the question he and his family are asking. "It’s very disrespectful to use my dad’s image in EJK rallies. Never ‘yun naging reason for his death," he said. "It’s RUDE to use him in this way."

The grieving son also pointed out how his father worked tirelessly to build his reputation and serve his patients with integrity. Now, seeing his face dragged into a political cause without consent feels like a slap in the face.

"Keep his picture out of your selfish agendas!!" he demanded, making it clear that his father’s legacy shouldn’t be twisted to fit someone else’s narrative.

At the end of the day, respect should be non-negotiable—especially when it comes to the memory of those who have passed.
